Happy 2020… the end of the world?
Begun 1.5.2020: Another new year, and this site still exists. Whether the world does by the end of the year is an open question.
That comment is related to Trump and his clown show of an administration. The Middle East and the rest of the world is still reeling from his decision to kill the Iranian general Qasam Soleimani in Iraq.
I shed no tears for Soleimani, he has the blood of thousands on his hands. However, to Iranians, he was a hero, and his killing will result in repercussions (is already resulting in repercussions) that Trump did not consider and did not prepare for.
I have read serious commentary that World War 3 will not result, Iran cannot defeat the US military. But the Iranians are masterful (at least under Soleimani) of exploiting advantages in asymmetric warfare.
This is not over, and people are going to die. Not the idiot and he fellow clowns who caused this— but plenty of people are going to die before this is over.
Just about the only positive spin that makes any sense that I've come across is that without Soleimani, the Iranians and their terrorist network are headless. Part of Soleimani's mystique was that he went where he wanted and survived. The Iranians were over reliant on him as a result. There is no ready replacement.
Time will tell.
